Instructor Training

Last published DD MMM YYYY This is for page description or overview where applicable.

Pilates is a highly integrated and scientific movement system. Learning to be an instructor is more like taking a Diploma or Degree than just an instructor certification.

Certification is your way to ensuring you are recognized as a properly trained and qualified Pilates instructor. As more people learn Pilates, and with many just “jumping on the bandwagon”, an internationally recognized certification is your key to being properly acknowledged.

Focus Pilates is a host centre for Polestar Pilates instructor education, the most comprehensive internationally recognised instructor training course available in Singapore.

Certification in Pilates

As a client, the selection of an instructor with, or undergoing, a serious and dedicated Pilates certification system is essential. There are many courses available. For internationally recognized certifying bodies, please consult www.pilatesmethodalliance.org. To train in Pilates is an arduous journey with no short cuts a comprehensive course will take a minimum of 6-12 months training, and a commitment to ongoing training once completed.

For those interested in learning more about the certification process, please read on.

Why should I certify?

Pilates is a highly integrated and scientific movement system. Learning to be an instructor is more like taking a Diploma or Degree than just an instructor certification. Although a strong knowledge in anatomy and exercise is beneficial (though not essential), participants are building a full knowledge of movement and exercise that is quite unlike the sort of gym, group exercise class or sports training most people have as their background.

Certification is your way to ensuring you are recognized as a properly trained and qualified Pilates instructor. As more people learn Pilates, and with many just “jumping on the bandwagon”, an internationally recognized certification is your key to being properly acknowledged.

Why Polestar Pilates?

PolestarPolestar is one of a few high integrity companies that are recognized worldwide for their certification process. For further understanding of international standards, please visit the Pilates Method Alliance - an internationally recognized organization comprising of Pilates education providers and educators agreeing on standards for certification.

Polestar is more accurately described as Pilates-evolved, as the founders have applied physical and medical exercise therapy and science into the refinement of the classical Pilates exercises and philosophy. This enables a more scientific and medically justified curriculum than the classical exercises. However we would like to stress that the quality of a program is only as good as the quality of the teacher, and that is something that takes lots of time and practice.
