Have an Injury?
Last published DD MMM YYYY This is for page description or overview where applicable. At Focus Pilates we have established a unique system to help you not only recover from injury but to bring you back to an optimum state of fitness where you are fitter and stronger then before your injury. Most healthcare interventions these days deal with short term treatment, however when you are discharged quite often the underlying muscle imbalance and poor movement strategies remain meaning it is only a matter of time before you get reinjured.
We have developed a 3 stage process:

- Initial Rehabilitation -
This stage is driven by our highly qualified physiotherapists and usually involves manual physiotherapy treatments such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage, electrotherapy, home exercise programs to aid rehabilitation and an introduction to Pilates exercises on equipment. This is for clients who walk into our centre with an acute injury or who are referred by a doctor, surgeon, or other healthcare professional. - Highly Supervised Movement Training -
This stage is driven by highly qualified Pilates Instructors (including if necessary our physiotherapists). In this stage we identify poor movement strategies and muscle imbalances and work closely with our clients on their specific needs. High priority is educating our clients on how to move well and modify their exercise to suit their abilities and liaising with your other healthcare professionals.
This stage is for clients no longer in the acute phase of their injury, often referred by other healthcare professionals. If your symptoms flare up you will be referred back to your original healthcare professional. - Semi-Supervised Movement Training -
We have a large selection of Pilates reformer classes run by highly qualified Pilates instructors. Classes are conducted such that they are multi-level (clients of different abilities can take the same class as the instructor’s modify exercises based on ability). Clients can start in Beginner classes and can progress to highly challenging Intermediate and Advanced classes. We have many rehabilitated clients (including disc prolapsed clients) who participate in Intermediate and Advanced classes (of course with appropriate modifications).
These classes are for people who are well on their way to recovery and focus on strengthening and toning the body, and are the same classes as clients who are interested in fitness and optimising their body’s performance.
