Prenatal AND Postnatal Pilates

Pilates is considered to be one of the best forms of exercise to prepare your body for birth, support it while you are pregnant and help you to recover after giving birth. Benefits include:

  • Increases your body awareness and control which helps during your labour
  • Builds deep abdominal strength and tone for an easier birth and a faster recovery
  • Builds strength in your core which helps to support your lower back during pregnancy, as well      as when carrying your newborn
  • Improves your body balance, especially when your centre of gravity changes
  • Builds lung capacity and improves breathing technique to help with your labour and create          room for the baby
  • Helps to activate your pelvic floor muscles to keep them strong for your birth, this also helps      with any incontinence you may experience after pregnancy
  • Pilates exercises enable joints and muscles return to their pre-pregnancy condition
  • Pilates exercises are low impact so won’t increase your heart rate or put pressure on joints.

If you have never done Pilates before it is recommended that you be in your second trimester and consult your doctor before commencing prenatal Pilates.

Prenatal Group Classes

Group prenatal classes are conducted mainly on the reformer (Pilates machine), which allows you to exercise more comfortably. We also include some mat work exercises so you can continue at home.
If you have never done Pilates on a reformer before then you need to complete two private one-on-one sessions first. This is so you can become familiar with the exercises and so the instructor can assess you on a one-to-one basis.

Postnatal Group Classes

Group postnatal classes are conducted mainly on the reformer, and also include some mat work exercises. The postnatal group classes are ideal after delivery, as they allow you to ease back into exercise safely, helping to stabilise and strengthen the body. Classes also help to prepare the joints and muscles for high impact activities in the future.

Prenatal Private Sessions

We also offer one-on-one prenatal sessions if you do not wish to join a group class. An instructor will work with you using a combination of equipment and mat exercises. Sessions can be purchased in packages of ten or on an ad-hoc basis.

Prenatal Package, $515

Ease into Pilates with this Prenatal Package which includes:

  • 2 x 60min private Pilates sessions
  • 5 x 60min Prenatal group classes

Postnatal Package, $575

Designed especially for new mums to help recover after the birth of their little one. This package includes:

  • 1 x 30min Real Time Ultrasound session with a Physiotherapist
  • 2 x 60min private Pilates sessions
  • 5 x 60min Postnatal group classes

Terms and conditions: Prenatal and Postnatal packages are valid for four months from date of first class. A $15 top-up per session is required if private session is booked with a Senior Instructor.
